In today’s news, Japan donates funds to support global humanitarian response. India-based research finds quitting tobacco improves health and may reduce poverty, Egypt launches large genome study for customized medicine, Saudi scientists create road barrier that uses traffic to generate electricity, apartment dwellers in Singapore rescue neighbor from fire, Australian vegan animal companion food brand offers one-stop shopping with money back guarantee, and US sanctuary provides lifelong home for rescued donkey-people.

Today I would like to share a garden care tip on refreshing your soil naturally using buckwheat as cover crop. Buckwheat is a fast-growing cover crop that helps revive tired soil during the warmer months. It germinates within a few days and quickly forms a dense canopy, shading the soil and helping to retain moisture. It’s well known for its natural weed-suppressing ability, crowding out unwanted plants, while also improving soil nutrition by helping make phosphorus more available for future crops as it breaks down. Buckwheat performs well even in low-fertility soils where other crops may struggle. Its fine roots help loosen and condition the topsoil, improving structure and making it easier to work. As a mid-season soil booster, it’s a simple and effective way to prepare your garden for healthy planting ahead.

Cherished viewers, here comes our daily gift of giggles for you! This joke is entitled, “A Mother’s Trick.”

Two moms, Amiya and Chloe, are chatting at the park about their demanding young children.

“My kids get bored with their toys so quickly. It feels like they’re always begging for something new.”

“Are you interested in a guaranteed, foolproof way to get them obsessed with their old toys again?”

“Yes! What is it?”

“Gather them all up and tell them that since they no longer play with them, they will be sold off at a garage sale.”

?!

And now we have a heartline in Mandarin Chinese, with multiple-language subtitles, from Qian-Yun in China
